Beautiful Snow, Canadian Favorites, and Santa

Our first day in Terrace was wonderful. We are all being spoiled by Grandma - waking up to bacon and eggs is a beautiful thing! The day was filled with Daddy taking us to some of his favorite places, and showing the children some of what the precious little town has to offer. The weather is bitterly cold, with an arctic wind that chills to the bone. Luckily, it is supposed to warm up - which in Canada equates to more snow! Regardless if the white stuff falls on Christmas Eve, there is enough on the ground that I will get my white Christmas no matter what.

Terrace is a lovely little place, surrounded by rugged snow-covered mountains from every vantage point. Ken seemed to run into someone he knew everywhere we went, and the smile on his face tells me it is fun for him to have his family with him this time. We began our daily adventure the way Ken started each day while he lived here - coffee at Tim Hortons. Then it was off to meet Uncle Rick at Petland, where he owns the best pet shop in town. We enjoyed learning about the animals - Zoe fell in love with a ferret and Gabriel claimed a miniature turtle.

After our animal outing, we headed to Daddy's favorite and much missed store - Canadian Tire. I was baffled at the expansive selection of skating and hockey gear - definitely their passion around here. We were all pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Santa himself. Considering the twins were lucky enough to have Santa come early this year, it was the perfect opportunity to thank him for making the special trip.

No first day in a new place is complete without a trip to the local Wal-Mart. I couldn't tell you the last time I walked in the front door of a Wal-Mart only to see straight through to the back wall :) But it was the perfect place to stock up on our Canadian favorites you just can't find in KY - including ketchup potato chips, Sinutab (the wonder drug), Smarties (no, not the pastel wrapped sugar candies - they have their own version), and Kinder Surprise chocolate eggs. We wrapped up our shopping and headed back to Grandma's just in time to head to the farm where the twins would finally meet The Williams Family - Auntie Kathy, Uncle Rick, and their seven amazing children.
