The Williams Family

Last night we enjoyed a fabulous evening of good food and great company at the Williams Family home. Aunt Kathy and Uncle Rick are Ken's sister and brother-in-law. I am consistently amazed at this wonderful family, considering they have seven children, all of whom are beautiful both in body and spirit. Just fixing dinner for a family of nine every night is a baffling task for me, but Kathy and her children do it with such grace and calm that I am relaxed just watching it all unfold.

The twins had such an incredible time playing with everyone. The children range in age from 21 years down to 18 months. From oldest to youngest their names are: Michael (not yet home from Victoria - he'll be back tomorrow), Amanda, Justin, Steven, John, Katie, and baby Matthew. What a crew! They live on a beautiful farm up on a hill, and I was amazed at the considerable amount of additional snow that had fallen at their place as opposed to in town. The kids played an impromptu game of indoor hockey and Uncle Ken couldn't help but join in. Then it was time to go milk the cow - yes, I said go milk the cow!

Kathy and Rick recently purchased a Jersey cow to help supplement the family's dairy needs. While Amanda and I cleaned up after supper, the rest of the clan suited up in snow gear and headed out into the white abyss. Zoe and Gabriel thought it was so cool to play in the barn, chasing the barn cats and visiting with the pigs and chickens - what a life experience! The snow began falling again and they couldn't resist throwing themselves in the heaps of white stuff that littered the front yard. They've never seen this much snow before in their lives - and for all of you that know my affection for snow, you know I'm in heaven out here!

We wrapped up our visit with some homemade fudge and conversation. The twins were exhausted, and were asleep before we could reach the end of the driveway as we headed back to town for the night.

Today holds more excitement as we will go cut down our own Christmas tree and enjoy ice skating at the local arena. I hope everyone is doing well and anticipating a white Christmas in KY this year!
